Photographs from the dining past.

With Classics Week's Power Hour in full-effect, we took a look back in time (way back in fact) to see how Detroit's restaurant landscape has changed. The Detroit Public Library's Burton Collection and the WSU Virtual Motor City archive host a surprising number of restaurant and bakery photos from the early and mid 20th Century. We unearthed a few here, but also highly recommend visiting Curbed Detroit or Century-Old Images of Detroit Bars.

From sentimental favorites to high-end dining, some of the Detroit's food industry's finest talk about the restaurants they miss.

Emilia Juocys, Assistant to Michael Rhulman and wearer of many food hats: "Charlie's Crab. A Meur restaurant that had an old time Boston feel to it. Growing up it was one of my favorite seafood places and it always has a changing fresh fish list, so you could have either figs from the Great Lakes or ocean fish. Miss Charlie's Bucket (lobster, clams, corn on the cob, potatoes, so east coast) and their smoked bluefish spread.

Also Pizza and Pipes. No idea who remembers this it was not the food that made it amazing but the concept. A place in the burbs where you could order pizza and nosh on popcorn while you watched old black and white comedies on film while someone played an organ. I was obsessed with this place as a kid and so was my dad."

Nick Janutol, Chef at Forest Grill: "Tribute while Takashi was the executive chef and pastry chef Michael Laiskonis. Taskashi was one of the first Michigan chefs to be highly praised by James Beard Foundation. Laiskonis has gone on to work for Le Bernadin and teaches at Institute of Culinary Education in NYC."

Jason Frenkel, Owner of Rubbed, Alley Taco, Tokyo Club: "Onion Roll Deli. Its had the best corned beef sandwiches. While many try, Onion Roll took the cake. It was run by two owners that worked it day-in and day-out. Outside of that, I didn't care for much of the food. It was pure atmosphere and corned beef."

Matt Asheley, Bartender at Forest Grill: "Golden Mushroom is missed. So many of the area's top chefs started their culinary careers at this European classic cuisine-driven restaurant under chef Milos Cihelka."

We asked reader's to share the shuttered Detroit restaurants that make them nostalgic. Here's what they said.

For every restaurant that makes it, there are probably five more that peter out. According one study of restaurants in Columbus, Ohio, approximately one in four restaurants will shutter or change ownership within their first year, and approximately 60 percent will do the same within three years of opening.

Eater asked you, to tell us which restaurants of the past get you most nostalgic. We received a ton of great feedback in the forums, as well as on Facebook and Twitter. Below, in no particular order, are the restaurants you missed.

Jim's Garage, Money Tree, Opus One, The Golden Mushroom, The Little Café, Tribute, Il Posto, Dona Lola's, Saltwater, Bourbon Steak, R.I.K.s, Twingo's, Original Lelli's, Mauna Loa, Harlequin Café, Van Dyke Place, Emily's, Little Harry's, Agave, Stewart's, Caucus Club, Chris and Carl's Diner , Hella's Greektown, Benno's, Susie Q's, Baile Corcaigh, Original Joe Muers, Pointe BBQ, Original London Chop House, Atlas Global Bistro, Chung's, Chuck Muer's Taverns, Elis Boyce, Casa de Espana, Lindell A.C., Turtle Soup Inn, The Original Shields, Savina's, Old Mill, Northeastern Bakery, Casino Bar & Grill, Nicholson's
