Simple and delicious, the modern french fry has transcended its side dish status, standing on its own with fearless flavor and topping combinations. Seasoned or topped with options like cheese, gravy and truffles, there’s seemingly endless ways to spruce up the deep fried spud. Cuts are just as important as toppings, with some preferring shoestring to steak cut, or perhaps the more exotic curly or waffle shapes.

No matter your preference, one of these 15 Detroit eateries will surely have frites to fit.
