The Novi location of Library Sports Pub and Grill to close
The Novi location of Library Sports Pub and Grill closes Sunday, March 28, after 25 years in business on Grand River Avenue, according to a Facebook post and first reported by Detroit Free Press. The West Bloomfield location remains open and will not be affected by the closure in Novi. Owner Bob Barnett called it “the most difficult” decision and still hopes to reopen eventually in a smaller space. The restaurant seats over 300 people at full capacity. Barnett moved the restaurant from across the street to the present location in Novi in order to attract larger crowds, many of which were traveling sports teams coming through the area. He blames continuing indoor dining and COVID restrictions for the continued hardships restaurants face, which he says have “crippled” the industry. For now, Barnett plans to focus on West Bloomfield while he waits for “things to fall out.” [Freep/Facebook]
Andiamo Dearborn closes after 17 years
Andiamo Dearborn closes after 17 years, Crain’s Detroit Business reports. Owned by restaurateur Joe Vicari, who also runs over 20 other restaurants, said the decision to close was due to the pandemic and the continued indoor capacity restrictions and “pauses” in dining service. According to Crain’s, the restaurant lost $2 million dollars with an additional $1 million from its banquet hall since the health crisis began last March. Andiamo’s 60 staff members will be offered employment at other restaurants in the Joe Vicari Restaurant Group. The group closed Andiamo in Sterling Heights last summer. Portillo’s opens in the space in March. A Royal Oak location closed in 2018. Meanwhile, Vicari has three new restaurants in the works in Grosse Pointe Farms, Shelby Township, and Birmingham. [CBD]
