Popular Eastern Market pizza restaurant Supino Pizzeria is now open in New Center for carryout. The opening marks the second location for the New York-style pizzeria and slice joint.
Unlike the Eastern Market location which sold to real estate investors for $20 million in 2018, Supino owner Dave Mancini owns the 2,300-square-foot New Center building on Woodward Avenue. His new slice shop and sit-down restaurant features a full bar and a larger kitchen, allowing Mancini to experiment with the menu and revive a few dishes from his defunct Eastern Market Italian restaurant La Rondinella. That restaurant closed just a few days past its first anniversary. Mancini converted the space into an expanded dining area and bar for Supino.
Supino is the latest restaurant to open in New Center this month. East African restaurant Baobab Fare, owned by Hamissi Mamba and Nadia Nijimbere, recently opened on Woodward Avenue, joining Yum Village and the Kitchen by Que.
Open Wednesday – Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Order online for takeout.
