Vinsetta Garage Nears a Deal to Resolve Yearslong Parking Feud

Plus, Little Caesars adds delivery and the Taco Stand expands to a third location

Berkley approaches deal with Vinsetta Garage over long-running parking feud

The City Council in Berkley is preparing to approve a court-mediated deal with Vinsetta Garage’s owners over parking, according to the Detroit Free Press. The Woodward Avenue restaurant has been fighting with the city and local residents surrounding the property over parking practically since it opened in 2012 and the latest deal remains a contentious one. Under the terms, Vinsetta Garage would be allowed to create two parking lots on residential properties behind the restaurant that the operator Curt Catallo owns. However, Catallo will also be required to build new homes on two of the lots.

Downriver taqueria opens new location in metro Detroit on Friday

The Taco Stand, a Downriver favorite based in Allen Park, is debuting its newest outpost in metro Detroit on Friday, January 10. The Jalisco-style Mexican restaurant known for its campanchano tacos is slated to land in Garden City at 27505 Ford Rd. This is the third location for the fast-growing restaurant group, which also runs a location in Taylor.

Little Caesars adds delivery

The home of the Hot-N-Ready has teamed up with DoorDash to bring junk food pizza right to customers doors. The app, which already offered Little Caesars, is partnering with the chain to provide the service on its own proprietary app. Delivery costs $2.99 plus a 10 percent service fee.

Amici’s changes hands

Amici’s Pizza and Living Room in Berkley is now operating under new ownership, Crain’s reports. Operators Jennifer Stark and Maureen McNamara sold the restaurant to Tim and Laura Kenrick. The new owners plan to change the name to Amici’s Kitchen and Living Room, but will continue to serve pizza and salad. Tim Kenrick was previously a partner in Peas & Carrots Hospitality, which operates Como’s and Social Kitchen + Bar.

Chick-fil-A continues its metro Detroit invasion

Controversial chicken sandwich chain Chick-fil-A is continuing its expansion into metro Detroit with four locations planned for the area this year. The first is slated to land on Thursday, January 9 at 3355 Fairline Dr. in Allen Park.
