Beloved Hamtramck carryout shop Amar Pizza is preparing to open the doors at its new Troy restaurant this week. The Bangladeshi American restaurant, known for its ragingly spicy ghost pepper pizza, announced that it will debut at 3728 Rochester Rd. at 3 p.m. on Friday, September 13.
The new Amar Pizza is setting up shop inside a former Papa John’s. The Troy location is replacing Amar’s two-year-old outlet in Fraser that closed over the summer. The original Amar Pizza opened in 2009 in Hamtramck and became a cult favorite thanks to its unique fusion pizzas, hot dogs, and chicken biryani.
At Amar, customers can expect options like naga pizza with chicken, red onions, cilantro, and a spicy Bangladeshi naga pepper sauce in place of traditional tomato sauce. There’s also dry fish pizza with dried shrimp, roasted garlic, onions, cilantro, and spicy fish paste sauce as well as tandoori chicken pizza. Each pie is available as a round, thin-crust, or Detroit-style square pizza. Additionally, Amar offers traditional carryout items like wings, french fries, and five styles of hot dogs with creative toppings.
Amar Pizza is located at 3728 Rochester Rd. in Troy; open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
