Beloved Madison Heights pizzeria expansion moves forward
Metro Detroit chain Green Lantern Pizza’s new outpost in Berkley is inching closer to its debut. The Madison Heights favorite first confirmed plans to expand to 12 Mile more than a year ago. The 5,200-square-foot restaurant is now on track for a mid-to-late fall opening, owner John Spreitzer tells Crain’s. The pizzeria will include a full bar and the same menu of round and Detroit-style squares as the Clinton Township restaurant.
Detroit Black Restaurant Week is back
For a third year, Detroit Black Restaurant Week is back with a fresh lineup of participating restaurants that includes. The event runs from Monday, August 19 through Sunday, August 25. Restaurants such as Flood’s Bar & Grille in downtown Detroit, Delphine’s Jamaican Restaurant in Warren, and the Jamaican Pot in Northwest Detroit will serve special menus throughout the week. will also feature several ticketed dinners and cooking classes.
Brush Park restaurant shakeup
Short-lived clubstaurant Visions at 2458 Brush St. will be replaced by a new restaurant called Brush Street Stadium Deli on Sunday, September 1. Owner Mona Ross Gardener, who also runs Winder Street Inn Bed & Breakfast, tells Crain’s the menu will have a Louisiana-influence with options like gumbo, po’boys, catfish, and pork belly fries.
