Detroit’s fast-expanding chain Buddy’s Pizza is preparing to throw open the doors at its Plymouth restaurant next week. The original Detroit-style pizza slinger is slated to debut at 15075 Beck Rd. near the USA Hockey Arena beginning at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16, per a release.
The new 7,000-square-foot restaurant seats 200 people and features a 25-seat patio. The interior will feature decor that references the original location Buddy’s Rendezvous on Conant in Detroit. Diners can expect a similar menu to other Buddy’s outposts with square pizzas baked in blue steel pans with brick cheese and sauce on top. The restaurant also features a full bar that serves options like the Griffin Claw-Buddy’s collaboration beer, Bocce IPA.
This is just the latest in stream of new Buddy’s locations planned for metro Detroit and the Midwest at large. Buddy’s recently expanded to outposts in Grand Rapids and restaurants in Woodhaven and downtown Detroit are also in the works. In 2018, the local restaurant group sold a majority stake in the company to private investment firm CapitalSpring. The group is aiming to establish new Buddy’s locations in cities such as Chicago, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Toledo, and Fort Wayne in the next few years.
The Plymouth restaurant will be offering giveaways to the first customers in the doors on opening day. The first 100 people will receive coupons for 12 free pizzas (good for one pizza per month for a year), and the first 50 email subscribers will receive coupons for one free pizza.
