Fast-casual burger giant Shake Shack is slated to open the doors at its first Ann Arbor outpost next week. The New York-based cult favorite restaurant chain will debut at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 15 at 3030 Washtenaw Ave #107.
This is the fourth outpost of the chain to hit Michigan and the first outside of metro Detroit. Shake Shack opened its first location in spring 2017 and has since gone on to open two restaurants in Troy — including one inside the Somerset Collection food court in May.
Shake Shack is known for Angus beef burgers served on Martin’s Potato Rolls, fried chicken sandwiches, and grilled hot dogs with crinkle cut fries. The restaurants also feature frozen custard concretes, which regularly feature local products. The Ann Arbor location will serve three concretes that are special to the location, per a release. They include the Wolverine Dream (vanilla custard with marshmallow sauce, graham crackers, and strawberry puree), the Shack Attack (chocolate custard with fudge sauce, Zingerman’s Bakehouse Black Magic brownies, Mast Brothers chocolate chunks, and chocolate sprinkles), and the Pie Oh My (vanilla custard with Zingerman’s Bakehouse pie).
The 3,000-square-foot restaurant will feature an outdoor patio area and a similar interior to other Shacks around the state with tables made from reclaimed bowling alley lanes.
Shake Shack openings are known to draw long lines. The restaurant is giving away free swag to the first 100 people in the door in Ann Arbor on opening day.
