Detroit Mini Donut Brings Buckets of Fried Treats and Italian Ice to Downtown

Food cart debuts new downtown Detroit shop

After more than a year of waiting, food cart favorite Detroit Mini Donut opened its new doughnut shop on Thursday, July 18 at 214 E Grand River Ave. in the Harmonie Park area of downtown. Founded by partners Karen Hudson and Karla Willis, Detroit Mini Donut serves piping hot doughnuts by the dozen or in buckets as well as fresh lemonade and Italian ice.

Two Detroit chefs featured in the New York Times

Chefs Kiki Louya of Folk and market-turned-temporary farm stand the Farmer’s Hand and Maxcell Hardy of Coop and River Bistro were featured by the New York Times in the piece “16 Black Chefs Changing Food in America.” Louya and Hardy were joined by former Detroiter Tunde Wey.

New Greektown restaurant sets opening date

Forthcoming Greektown restaurant Friend & Associate is set to open on Wednesday, July 24 at 501 Monroe St. The restaurant is located in the former Santorini Estiatorio space, below new rooftop club Delmar Detroit.
