The Siren Hotel’s funky piano karaoke bar, Sid Gold’s Request Room, is ready for its big debut. The lounge and entertainment venue will open its doors to the crooning public in downtown Detroit on Friday, July 19.
Beauty Bar founder Paul Devitt and former Psychedelic Furs keyboardist Joe McGinty are the partners behind Sid Gold’s, which originally debuted in New York in 2015. It feels fitting that a sing-a-long piano spot would land its second location in the Wurlitzer Building — named after a piano manufacturer. Located through the alley between the Siren and the Element hotels, Sid Gold’s features a retro interior with piano karaoke in the evenings Tuesday through Saturday. Singers will be able to select from a list of songs ranging from ‘60s Brit pop tunes to goth rock to ‘80s ballads in a small, intimate space.
Customers can also count on a selection of drinks ranging from cocktails to beer and wine. The menu is designed to look like a record cover with the fictionalized Sid Gold on the front. On the back find options like the Ginger Baker with rye, Ramazzotti amaro, bitters, and ginger syrup or a classic French 75. Cocktails are $13 each. Take a peek at the full menu below.
