The North Terminal at Detroit Metropolitan Airport is inching closer to competing with its McNamara rival for food choices with the addition of three new dining options. On deck, Air Margaritaville, the airport version of Jimmy Buffett’s restaurant, Detroit Street Café pouring Zingerman’s Coffee, and Atwater Brewery.
Both Air Margaritaville and Detroit Street Café swung open their doors on June 5, while Atwater Brewery opened June 1. The trio follow the April opening of metro Detroit favorite Cantoro Italian Market Trattoria.
They’re all part of phase one of a four-part $21 million food redevelopment effort in the North Terminal, which has had far fewer choices in dining than the McNamara Terminal — a domestic hub for Delta Airlines. Later this summer, a MOD Pizza, National Coney Island, and Starbucks are expected to become available.
Other additions will include several names familiar to metro Detroit, including Jolly Pumpkin Taphouse, Anita’s Kitchen Lebanese Café, and Common Grace Coffee Company.
