Rapidly expanding Michigan juice bar chain Beyond Juice is bringing smoothies and quinoa bowls to a second location in Detroit his year. The company confirmed plans today to move into the Boulevard, a mixed-use development from the Platform that’s located at the corner of 3rd Street and West Grand Boulevard.
Founded in 2005, Beyond Juice has followed an ambitious path for expansion since 2015. The Madison Heights-based company opened its first restaurant in Detroit proper within Eastern Market in September 2016. The New Center outpost is one of a whopping eight Beyond Juices expected to open by the end of 2019 for a total of 15 shops. The company is currently in the process of building out a location in Shelby Township and broke ground on a shop in Orchard Lake today. A location in Clarkston is also slated to begin construction soon with three more as-of-yet-unannounced spots in the works.
Like its sister locations, the Boulevard outpost will serve smoothies such as the Northern Berry with Michigan cherries, blueberries, strawberries, bananas, and coconut water as well as raw juices, smoothie bowls, lemonade, wraps, and salads, per a release. It will be joining fitness tenant Orangetheory.
The New Center location was first teased by Beyond Juice in March. At the time, the juice bar chain indicated that the cafe would open this summer, but a representative for the Platform tells Eater it’s now on track to open this fall. Construction will begin in July on the 1,800-square-foot location. Once completed, it will seat roughly 25 customers.
Beyond Juice will be located at 2911 W. Grand Blvd.
