A new hotel is on its way to downtown Detroit complete with new dining options. Choice Hotels International plans to open a Cambria Hotel in Detroit at 600 W. Lafayette Blvd.
Among the amenities outlined in a release, Choice Hotels teases “Celebrity chef curated” food with local beers on tap, wine, and cocktails. A representative for Choice Hotels confirms to Eater that the celebrity chef associated with the hotel is Fabio Viviani. His group Fabio Viviani Hospitality will be in charge of the food and beverage program at the hotel in partnership with Yellow Door Hospitality. Viviani previously opened a pizzeria called Mercato by Fabio Viviani inside the Press Room (located across from the future Cambria Hotel). Plans for the hotel also call for rooftop bars.
The Cambria Hotel in Detroit joins a growing list of hotel developments that are taking advantage of their rooftops by adding bars and restaurants. Downtown Detroit’s new Element Hotel will eventually feature a rooftop cocktail lounge and outdoor terrace at the peak of the Metropolitan building called the Monarch Club. The Siren Hotel developers ASH NYC also haven’t ruled out the possibility of adding a bar to their rooftop, though the property is primarily focused on opening a whole lot of other exciting food and beverage projects on the first two levels of the Wurlitzer. Restaurants such as incoming Detroit-style pizza spot Michigan & Trumbull will also feature rooftop dining space.
Curbed Detroit has all the details on the new 154-room Cambria Hotel along with several other hotel projects in the works. Cambria is expected to arrive in 2020.
