Detroit-style pizza chain heads to two more metro Detroit cities
Buddy’s Pizza is clearly ramping up its expansion efforts in its quest to conquer the Detroit-style pizza sector. With locations planned for Grand Rapids, Detroit, the company told the Detroit Free Press on Thursday that it would open new restaurants in Plymouth and Woodhaven this year. Buddy’s received a cash infusion in 2018 from investor CapitalSpring to grow Buddy’s into a nationwide chain. A Chicago outpost may soon be on the horizon.
Corktown all-day brunch cafe recognized
James Beard Award-winning writer and author Tracy McMillan rounded up a list of 19 restaurants that offer quality, progressive workplaces for Food & Wine. The list includes Eater Detroit’s Doing It Right award winner and all around delicious neighborhood brunch spot Folk and sister market the Farmer’s Hand.
Juice bar heads to New Center
New Center is ramping up to become one of Detroit’s next hot restaurant neighborhoods and continues to attract new businesses. Case in point: Beyond Juicery + Eatery. The rapidly growing metro Detroit juice bar chain has announced plans to open a location in New Center this summer. It will be the second Beyond Juicery in the city proper. The other is located in Eastern Market.
