A candlelit meal of coney dogs awaits Detroit couples

Is there a more romantic food than a coney dog? Definitely yes, but it might just be the most affordable route for a candlelit evening on Valentine’s Day in Detroit. American Coney Island is setting some mood lighting with candles and “long-stem roses for the ladies,” so couples can eat their chili, mustard, and onions slathered dogs with some extra ambiance from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 14. No reservations required. Earlier in the day, the restaurant is also co-hosting its second annual vow renewal stunt feature 10 couples selected by radio station WCSX. All hot dog loving pairs should apply here.

Mediterranean chain expands

Fast-casual metro Detroit chain 2941 Mediterranean Street Food is heading to Royal Oak. The Mediterranean and Middle Eastern restaurant group just signed a lease on a space formerly home to Pei Wei at 30278 Woodward Ave. near Olga’s Kitchen, according to a release by Colliers. The chain got its start in 2015 and has since expanded to five locations throughout the region.
