Brown Iron Brewhouse is joining the mix of restaurants and cafes heading to a development in Royal Oak this summer. The Washington Township-based brewpub is slated to open a new German-style beer hall and smokehouse at Beaumont Health’s Woodward Corners development near Thirteen Mile and Woodward Avenue, Crain’s reports. The 117,000-square-foot commercial development will also feature a location of quick-service chain Grabbagreen and smaller grocery-only Meijer similar to one planned for East Jefferson in Detroit.
Beaumont first announced plans to develop the property back in 2017. A location of Brush Park cafe New Order Coffee and celebrity-backed hamburger chain Wahlburgers previously confirmed plans to open locations at the site. New Order and Grabbagreen will be among the first businesses to open at the development in June.
Meijer’s so-called Woodward Corner Market will span 40,000-square-feet and will sell “a vast assortment of fresh food; local, artisan groceries; and Meijer and national brand products at low prices,” per a release.
This will be the second location for Brown Iron, which opened back in 2015 at 57695 Van Dyke Ave. The menu at the original beer hall features options like pitmaster poutine with chopped barbecued meat, beef gravy, and cheese curds as well as items like candied bacon, beer can chicken, and beef brisket. The new restaurant, like its predecessor, will include a “large, outdoor beer garden,” according to Beaumont Health.
Both Brown Iron Brewing Co. and Wahlburgers are expected to debut in July.
