Bobcat Bonnie’s Plots Mid-October Opening in Ferndale

Plus, a Jamaican restaurant debuts in Warren

New gastropub outpost is hiring

Fast-growing metro Detroit gastropub chain Bobcat Bonnie’s is staying on schedule with its renovations in Ferndale. Owner Matthew Buskard tells Eater the restaurant is now targeting an opening on Wednesday, October 17. Bonnie’s is taking over the recently shuttered Zeke’s Rock and Roll BBQ space at 240 W 9 Mile Rd. The gastropub’s team will include some staff from the previous restaurant, but Bonnie’s is also hosting several hiring days next week for the new location. Interested job applicants can stop by the Ferndale address from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, October 1 through Thursday, October 4.

Private dining expansion

Lady of the House unveiled its new private dining space this week. The space is located in the basement of the restaurant and features its own fireplace. It’s now available for bookings.

Brewery shutters

Short-lived St. Clair Shores brewery Shipwreck Brewing Company appears to have permanently shuttered. Rumors surfaced in early September that the brewery was permanently closed and the company has now deleted its social media accounts. The owners did not respond to requests for comment by Eater.

Celebrity-backed burger restaurant aims for winter opening

Wahlburgers, the chain owned by the Mark Wahlberg and his brothers, is aiming for a January or February opening in Royal Oak near Beaumont, according to the Oakland Press. The restaurant will be leasing the space for $19,500 per month and the cost of the renovation is estimated at $890,000.

Restaurant shutters

It looks a whole lot like Santorini Estiatorio in Greektown has shuttered. Signs suggesting the restaurant was “closed for refurbishing,” recently appeared on the restaurant door, according to Deadline Detroit, but the restaurant’s social media accounts have been deleted. The owners of Santorini also operate Pegasus Tavernas and they have not responded to requests for comment by Deadline or Eater.

Chain expansion

Nashville’s Captain D’s Seafood is expanding to metro Detroit with locations planned for Taylor, Madison Heights, and Roseville. The restaurants are expected to come online in late-2019.

Wing restaurant chain eyes metro Detroit

An Ohio-based chain Buffalo Wings and Rings is looking to expand to Michigan with up to 30 franchise locations in the next five years.

Jamaican restaurant debuts

There’s a new Jamaican restaurant called Delphine’s heating up at 14377 Nine Mile Rd. in Warren. Owner Delphine Drake’s menu features items like ackee and saltfish, jerk chicken, jerk shrimp, and curry goat, the Metro Times reports. Here’s a peek at the menu.
