The Avenue of Fashion’s hit restaurant Kuzzo’s Chicken & Waffles is expanding to Midtown. The restaurant owned by former NFL player Ron Bartell has leased a 4,000-square-foot-space inside a proposed mixed-use development near the Bonstelle Theatre and Whole Foods, Crain’s reports.

The new, bigger location would seat roughly 125 customers and feature a larger kitchen and a full bar. Bartell estimates that the restaurant would open in 2020. That’s dependent on whether the development called the Woodward @ Midtown sticks to its building timeline. Work is expected to start on the project this fall, but the building has been in the works for more than two years.

Kuzzo’s Chicken & Waffles opened 2015 and has been packing the house ever since. The restaurant is a member of the local Eater 38 and Midwest 38. The menu features a variety of styles of chicken and waffles as well as items like grits, collard greens, and colorful Kool-Aid in a jar.
