Secret Speakeasy Opens With Crab Napoleons and Lobster Mac and Cheese

Downtown Royal Oak will discover all the mysteries of underground speakeasy Johnny’s on Saturday, July 28. The hush-hush bar sits at 215 S. Main St., and guests find the hidden space through a back staircase only accessible from an outside kitchen door (the entrance is disguised as a walk-in cooler door).

To visit reservations are required and can be made by texting (248) 794-1261 for a secret code or by visiting www.johnnysroyaloak.com.

Once in, guests can choose from a list of specialty cocktails and order from the small plates menu. The sample menu includes “herb crusted fillet mignon stuffed with chèvre, lump crab napoleon, lobster mac and cheese, [and] vegan meatballs.”

The 1,500-square-foot bar can seat up to 42 guests. Speakeasy hours are Wednesday through Saturday, from 7 p.m. – 1 a.m.

THe grand opening party on Saturday, July 28, starts at 7 p.m. and will feature complimentary snacks and specialty cocktails.
