Two of metro Detroit’s favorite pizzerias are gearing up for fresh expansions. Tomatoes Apizza and Green Lantern Lounge are preparing to open new locations over the next few months.
Farmington Hills-based Tomatoes Apizza tells the Detroit Free Press that the company will open a new carryout and delivery-only outpost of its popular New Haven-style pizza shop in Birmingham. The 1,400-square-foot restaurant is setting up shop next door to Papa Joe’s Gourmet Market and Catering complete with thin-crust pizzas baked in a coal-fired oven. It’s set to debut by mid-August.
Madison Heights icon Green Lantern is also in the process of adding a carryout and delivery-only location in Rochester near the corner of Walton Boulevard and Livernois Road and a full-service restaurant in Berkley near Twelve Mile Road. The restaurants are expected to debut by early 2019, according to Metromode.
Of course, Detroiters don’t have to wait to try the pizza. Check out the original outposts of Tomatoes Apizza at 14 Mile Road in Farmington Hills and Green Lantern on John R. Road in Madison Heights.
