A new fast-casual falafel shop arrived in downtown Detroit last week. ChickP — not to be confused with nearby sibling walk-up window Chickpea in the D — debuted on June 19 at 110 Clifford St. in the former Go! Smoothies space.
The owners, who also run Italian sandwich shop La Pecora Nera around the corner, are now offering a limited menu comprised of Mediterranean options like pita wraps, bowls, and salads. Customers can find options like a spicy falafel wrapped called the Hottie with hot pepper tahini, house sauce, lettuce, tomato, pickles and onions. There’s also a hummus bowl, sort of a deconstructed falafel wrap, with hummus, falafel, tomato, onion, pickles, cucumbers, and tahini. ChickP also offers sides like lentil soup. The menu is expected to grow over the next few months.
Unlike Chickpea in the D where customers order at the counter and wait outdoors for their order, ChickP offers some indoor seating. The restaurant is currently open for lunch-only from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Take a peek at the opening menu below.
