Fancy hot dogs roll-out at Slows’ on Wednesdays
Ever popular Corktown barbecue destination Slows Bar BQ is rolling out a new hot dog pop-up called Side Piece on the restaurant’s side bar area. The pop-up developed by chef Ryan Esker will feature five different styles of hot dogs and sausages — each for $5. The menu includes options like the Dog Will Rise Again with hot chow chow, braised greens, and fried onions or the Jeff Goldblum’s Jurassic Park Laugh with pastrami, kraut, swiss cheese, and hot brown mustard. The pop-up launches on June 20 and runs every Wednesday throughout the summer beginning at 5 p.m.
Chef shuffles in Pontiac
Metro Detroit newcomer Menagerie Lounge has cut ties with chef Marcus Ware after less than three months of business. Co-owner April Forbes tells Eater in an email that Ware left the business “due to creative differences.” In his absence, the restaurant located at 155 North Saginaw St. has promoted Jessica Terrell-Hyde to the executive chef position. Her menu is expected to debut by the end of the month.
Royal Oak whiskey distillery plots expansion
Motor City Gas micro distillery in Royal Oak is plotting a big expansion after three years of business. Owners Rich and Tonya Lockwood plan to invest $500,000 into a new production facility near the Fourth Street tasting room, according to Crain’s. They may eventually begin distributing Motor City Gas’ spirits beyond the tasting room.
