While downtown’s recently remodeled Detroit Club may be reserved for members-only, it’s restaurant the Grille Room recently opened to the public on the ground floor offering the non-members an opportunity to check out the historic building.

The white tablecloth restaurant that was originally slated to open in January, made its official entrance with dinner service on February 28, a representative for the Detroit Club confirms to Eater. At the helm is chef Kirk McKinney a Culinary Institute of America graduate and metro Detroit restaurant alum who has worked in restaurants across the United States. McKinney is joined by chef de cuisine Cortez Frasier (previously the Apparatus Room).

The Grille Room’s chophouse-style menu focuses primarily on steaks, chops, and seafood. For appetizers diners can expect items like bone marrow, yellowfin tuna carpaccio, and a Seafood Plateau loaded with shrimp, oysters, lobster, and crab. Entrees include six and 10-ounce cuts of filet mignon alongside options like mushroom risotto and pappardelle with lamb meatballs and lamb sauce. On the dinner menu, main dishes start at around $22 for a burger up to $58 for a ribeye.

The restaurant is currently open for dinner-only but plans to expand into lunch service on Wednesday, March 21. The Grille Room is currently accepting reservations and while walk-ins are welcome customers should keep in mind that there is a business casual dress code. Take a peek at the menu and look around the restaurant and bar lounge at the Grille Room in the gallery below. For a tour of the rest of the club head over to Curbed Detroit.

The Grille Room is located inside the Detroit Club at 712 Cass Ave.; open 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday for dinner and starting March 21 for lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; dress code is business casual.
