After a week of testing out its menu, Iggy’s Eggies is going full steam ahead with egg sandwiches at a walk-up window in Capitol Park. The strictly breakfast restaurant is spinoff of downtown Detroit burger restaurant Lovers Only and runs out of the kitchen on the Grand River Avenue side of the 28 Grand Building.
The new addition is clearly aiming to capture foot traffic in an area of downtown that’s seen a lot of new development for residential as well as retail. Lovers Only and Voyager chefs Justin Tootla and Jennifer Jackson came up with the streamlined menu which includes straight-forward takeout options like the Bodega sandwich with grilled Sy Ginsberg bologna, white cheddar, mayo, mustard, and a fried egg on a kaiser roll. Customers can also build-their-own sandwich by choosing a style of bread, cheese, and meat to go with the eggs. There are also options like hashbrowns and yogurt with granola. Prices range from around $3.50 to $6.
