Welcome to day two of Detroit’s 2018 Eater Awards, honoring the most talented restaurant and bar industry gurus in cities across the world. Here’s how the Eater Awards work: All 24 Eater cities and the national site will award prizes in multiple categories, including but not limited to Restaurant of the Year, Chef of the Year, and Design of the Year.
In each category, editors will choose an Editor’s Choice winner and readers will vote for a Reader’s Choice winner — all to be announced on December 5, 2018. The Reader’s Choice winner gets unlimited bragging rights as an Eater fan favorite. The Editor’s Choice winner will receive an illustrious tomato can trophy, as is the tradition around here.
Now, without any further ado, it’s time to vote for the reader’s choice winner in the Chef of the Year category. The rundown on this year’s chef nominees: Genevieve Vang of standout Detroit Shipping Company food stall Bangkok 96 Street Food, Norberto Garita of Mexican-Italian restaurant and pizzeria La Noria Bistro, Garrett Lipar of the Siren Hotel chef’s table Albena, and George Azar of Southwest Detroit Vietnamese restaurant Flowers of Vietnam. Polls will be open for 24 hours from 10 a.m. on November 27 to 10 a.m. on November 28 and will be strictly policed for funny business. (Please note: If the poll doesn’t appear, try visiting the page directly through the Eater Detroit website.) Choose wisely.
