A beer hall is set to join a growing list of food, drink, and retail spaces at downtown’s forthcoming Shinola Hotel. Representatives for New York-based restaurant developers NoHo Hospitality confirm to Eater that a beer hall called the Brakeman will be joining a second outpost of the group’s cocktail lounge Evening Bar at the hotel.

According to NoHo, the Brakeman will feature a rotation of Midwest-centric craft beers on draft and will also include an alleyway open year-round with games like ping-pong, foosball. and shuffleboard. The name Brakeman refers to the style of one of Shinola’s iconic watches.

NoHo is owned by James Beard Award-winning chef Andrew Carmellini, Luke Ostrom, and Josh Pickard. The group tells Eater that they’re developing a Detroit location of its New York-based cocktail lounge Evening Bar for the Shinola Hotel which will serve “comfortable, classic American bar serving seasonally crafted cocktails and bar bites.”

Last week Crain’s dropped the names of four retailers that are also expected to land on the first floor of the 130-room boutique hotel, including juice-makers Drought, women’s fashion retailer Madewell, fragrance maker Le Labo and Detroit-based clothing retailer Good Neighbor. Drought will be relocating its shop from Chrysler House to a new space inside the hotel.

Up until recently, representatives had been fairly secretive about what to expect in the hotel’s retail space. The development is supposed to open sometime in December. This is likely not the final word on what’s to come from NoHo. Stay tuned for more updates.
