A more than half a century old, family-owned pizzeria in Royal Oak is preparing to close its doors for good. Pasquale’s Restaurant confirmed on Thursday afternoon that the owners are looking to lease or possibly sell the property at 31555 Woodward Ave. in Royal Oak for redevelopment.
The DelGiudice family established Pasquale’s in 1954 and four generations have helped keep the business running. “My brothers and I grew up here; it’s always been family-run and we’ll miss feeding the community,” owner Michael DelGiudice said in a release. “We’ve been slowing down naturally for the last few years, and after discussing this internally we believe the timing is right.” No specific date has been set for the closure at this time as the owners are still in the early stages of securing a new tenant or buyer.
The 7,587-square-foot restaurant, which was listed today with RBC1 LLC, features a full basement, a Class C liquor license, and a 190-space parking lot, according to the property brochure.
“The plan is to stay open as long as we can,” DelGiudice said. “We want to keep that big parking lot packed until the bittersweet end.”
