New restaurant lands in District Detroit
The arena district has secured another restaurant tenant for the Ilitch-owned area around the new (very much delayed) Little Caesars world headquarters. Metro Detroit’s nearly 40-year-old restaurant group Sahara Restaurant & Grill is opening a new location serving Chaldean and Middle Eastern cuisine one of the retail spaces surrounding Columbia Street. The 4,500-square-foot restaurant is joining Frita Batidos in 2019.
Expansions plans
Sicily’s Pizzeria on West Vernor in Southwest Detroit has been in the process of building out some additional space and revealed a rendering this week of what the restaurant might look like when it’s finished. The snazzy expansion will feature more seating and lots of outdoor planters.
Steakhouse chain grows in Michigan
Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse is opening a 7,200-square-foot location at 17107 Haggerty Rd. in Novi on November 9. The company is looking into additional sites for future restaurants around the state including downtown Detroit.
Deli owner reveals his guide to Detroit
Ben Hall, co-owner of Russell Street Deli in Eastern Market, teamed up with Bon Appetit to create a guide to Detroit. The list features metro Detroit mainstays like Loui’s Pizza and Kanun Grill, alongside national list regular Selden Standard, staple barbecue destination Nunn’s, and Cafe D’Mongo’s Speakeasy. It’s an extremely well-rounded collection of restaurants.
