Metro Detroit taco shop to unveil second outpost
Royal Oak-based fast-casual restaurant Detroit Taco Company is expanding to a second location next month in Troy. The new restaurant will be located at 2199 Crooks Rd. and is set to open on Thursday, November 1. Detroit Taco Company, which opened its first location three years ago, has a menu that includes items like tacos, burritos, bowls, salads and nachos.
New daiquiri bar lands at downtown casino
The MGM Grand Detroit is adding a new daiquiri bar called 32 Degrees to its lineup of lounges. The bar is a spinoff of a similar frozen drink bar at the MGM Grand Las Vegas. In addition to the daiquiris the bar will be pouring Michigan craft beers, per a release.
More Detroit-style pizza expansions
Buddy’s Pizza investors Capital Spring revealed to Restaurant Business last week that three new locations are currently under construction and the company is “negotiating for six more sites.” Representatives for Buddy’s declined requests for comment by Eater on the locations of the restaurants that are under development. Capital Spring told the industry publication that it’s exploring options for franchising the original Detroit-style pizza slinger.
Food truck explores brick-and-mortar location
Detroit Mini Donut secured a location in downtown Detroit’s Harmonie Park area for a new brick-and-mortar shop over the summer, not far from Dilla’s Delights. The space is currently being used for the roving company’s storage, but may turn into a full scale location. The owners launched an IndieGoGo campaign last week with a hefty flexible crowdfunding goal of $125,000.
