After a quick renovation, Bobcat Bonnie’s is preparing to debut in Ferndale this weekend. The restaurant is set to begin private openings tonight in preparation for the doors opening to the public on Friday, October 19, owner Matthew Buskard confirms to Eater.
Bobcat Bonnie’s had intended to open on Woodward Avenue, but underwent an unexpected change of address this fall. The restaurant eventually confirmed plans to take over the former Zeke’s Rock and Roll BBQ space at 240 W 9 Mile Rd. Shortly after the restaurant closed on September 12, Buskard’s team began adding its own touches to the space. The updated 100-seat restaurant features refinished wood floors, graphic wallpaper from the Detroit Wallpaper Co., and a colorful rainbow mural.
The Ferndale restaurant is expected to offer a nearly identical menu to its sibling locations with options like Captain Crunch chicken fingers, loaded tater tots, and burgers. Buskard says the bar will be featuring some special beers and ciders on rotation during the opening including Founders CBS 2017, Blake’s Knight King, and a tequila barrel-aged yuzu gose from Griffin Claw.
The restaurant will open initially Wednesday through Sunday night only and will eventually expand into Monday and Tuesday dinner service. Lunch and brunch service will be introduced in a few weeks.
Bobcat Bonnie’s Ferndale is located at 240 W 9 Mile Rd.; open starting this weekend from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday.
