Longtime Royal Oak wine bar Vinotecca will be revived on January 26 at its new location in downtown Birmingham.
The Jonna Family restaurant group, which operates Vinotecca, confirmed in September that they would be retiring three-year-old restaurant The Bird and The Bread and replacing it with the rebooted wine spot. Vinotecca previously vacated its Royal Oak space next door to Bastone Brewing after a 12-year run, making way for a new Jolly Pumpkin outpost.
The refashioned bar will feature a full accompaniment of wines including rarer selections offered by-the-glass thanks to a Coravin system that protects wine from oxidation, according to a release. The bar is also offering wine and cocktails on tap and ever-so-trendy frosé. In terms of food, diners can expect small plates and “world cuisine.” Additionally, the bar plans on hosting live jazz and blues in the evenings as well as wine education events for oenophiles looking to broaden their knowledge.
As for adjoining 300-person capacity banquet space The ELM Room, look out for a full lineup of entertainment including concerts and comedy shows.
Vinotecca is located at 210 S. Old Woodward Ave.; the restaurant and bar opens at 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and at 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday for brunch (beginning February 3). Website.
