Patisserie and cafe Le Detroit Macaron is set to debut at 10 a.m. on September 23 in Hamtramck. The French macron shop is located in Bon Bon Bon’s original space at 2756 Evaline St. and will operate with Saturday-only retail hours.
Owner Patty Corkery says she’ll be offering a wide assortment of her colorful meringue-based cookies, which come in flavors like pink champagne, Oreo cheesecake, and Fruity Pebbles. She also plans to introduce some seasonal fall specials such as pumpkin spice. Customers will be limited to six macarons per person during the opening until supplies run out. In addition to cookies, patrons can find Great Lakes Coffee on Le Detroit Macaron’s menu.
The renovated shop features a white and sea foam green color palette with a glass display case and baking equipment behind the counter. The tin ceilings are also illuminated by a chandelier.
Corkery is an attorney by trade but developed an obsession for baking macarons several years ago while taking cooking classes. She eventually started a retail business on the side making gift boxes and preparing custom orders for weddings and other events.
The new Le Detroit Macaron storefront will offer the cookies as individually or by the box. Corkery will use the space throughout the rest of the week to fill special orders.
