Welcome to the Plywood Report, a roundup of all the latest intel on Detroit's and metro Detroit’s coming restaurant attractions.

DOWNTOWN — Restaurateur Eli Boyer’s new burger project Loverboy is setting a brisk construction pace in downtown Detroit. The restaurant windows were recently plastered with “Coming Soon” construction wraps. Architecture firm Five/Eighths also offered some sneak peeks of the work on the interior this week. The basic framing and drywall appears to be nearly complete revealing some “whimsical” curved archways. Boyer had previously described the design as akin to a Wes Anderson film with mid-century modern influences. The 2,500-square-foot restaurant at the base of Bedrock Real Estate’s new 28 Grand Building will seat roughly 85 people with additional patio space. Loverboy is on track to open by early 2018. SOUTHWEST DETROIT — El Barzon’s sibling La Noria is still in the midst of construction along Michigan Avenue. The long overdue eatery revealed a new photo last week of the Italian oven and outdoor bar counter. Located inside a former coney island, El Barzon’s owners began transforming the building into a new, more casual eatery in early 2015. In May, chef/owner Norberto Garita revealed that the menu would focus on wood-fired pizzas and Pueblan food such as cured grasshopper tacos, black bean tamales, and tortas. [EaterWire]

WOODBRIDGE — Forthcoming cafe and repair shop, Woodbridge Bikes & Coffee is making some progress on Trumbull Avenue. In the meantime the owners are helping run biking/yoga/brunch events out of the Collective at True North. [EaterWire]
