Midtown’s recently shuttered Detroit Pizza Company is looking to make a comeback under new ownership. The restaurant located at the based of the Park Shelton building near the Detroit Institute of Arts announced plans to relaunch on social media on September 12.
The restaurant and a neighboring bakery, Nom Nom’s Cupcake Factory, originally debuted at 15 E Kirby St #115 in 2014. However, in early August the operator La Weir, Inc. confirmed that both establishments were being closed down as part of a company restructuring.
Detroit Pizza Company’s new owner Dalton Criswell, who also runs a health and supplement shop called MI Nutrition in Royal Oak, tells Deadline Detroit he plans to expand the restaurants menu with options like vegan cheese and whole wheat crusts as well as sandwiches and a larger selection of salads. The former Nom Nom’s space will also transition into smoothie bar and pastry shop. The Detroit Pizza Company is expected to reopen in mid-October.
