One of Southwest Detroit’s best food trucks, El Taco Veloz, has landed at a counter inside Cass Corridor’s Marcus Market. The location was formerly home to Alley Taco, which vacated the space earlier this year due to rising rents. Alley since expanded to a larger restaurant on Willis Street.
An employee tells Eater the new, more permanent Veloz location opened around three weeks ago though the original truck continues to operate off Livernois and Toledo.
El Taco Veloz’s menu features street-style tacos filled with grilled steak, grilled chicken, chorizo, or pastor (marinated pork) and topped with grilled onions and cilantro. The location also offers burritos, quesadillas and drinks like horchata and aguas frescas. Prices range between $2.50 and $8. The taco counter features some limited seating for those looking to grab a quick bite.
The taqueria isn’t the only new business to set up shop inside the Market this year. In April, the Second Avenue party store welcomed a new juice and smoothie bar called Juice Joint.
El Taco Veloz is located inside Marcus Market at 4614 Second Ave. and at 6170 Toledo St.; call the Midtown restaurant at 313-833-1193.
