Update, September 12, 2:36 p.m.: Neehee’s in Canton has reopened after a quick cleanup.

Service abruptly halted at Neehee’s in Canton this afternoon after a car crashed through the front window of the restaurant. No one was hurt in the incident but the eatery has temporarily shuttered pending repairs to the storefront.

The popular Indian street food establishment known for its plentiful vegetarian options shared photos and video of the white vehicle that drove in through the windows of the establishment on Monday afternoon. In posts to social media, the operators describe the incident as accidental and say they to reopen later in the week.

First and foremost, everyone is safe! But we've had a very eventful afternoon. This afternoon a car accidentally drove into our NeeHee's location. Our hope is to be up and running again this week. Please check back for the latest updates. Thanks to our incredible team for keeping cool and collected during this time.

This isn’t the first time Neehee’s Ford Road restaurant has been smashed up by a vehicle. In 2012, the eatery was shuttered for 10 days after a driver mistakenly backed up into the building. Fortunately, this time customers have an alternative option for getting their Neehee’s fix. The restaurant debuted a second outpost in Troy last fall.
