MEALS ON WHEELS — Classic pub Sweetwater Tavern invested in a food truck to bring its chicken wings (often said to be among the best in town) to the streets. Owner Jeff Cain told Metro Times that the mobile kitchen will make its first appearance at the Woodward Dream Cruise (August 17-20). The truck will also serve other Sweetwater menu items like burgers, chicken strips, and steak bites. [MetroTimes]
NEWS — Fire fighters extinguished a relatively minor blaze at The Old Shillelagh in Greektown early Tuesday morning. The fire took roughly 15 minutes to put out. The popular Irish bar was back to business on Friday though. [MetroTimes]
NEWS — Schramm’s Mead got a scare on Saturday, August 5, as a group walked out on thier hefty tab. Schramm’s Mead wrote on Facebook, “If you were sitting in the booth this afternoon and accidentally walked out on your $600 tab, please stop by anytime to pay it - we understand accidents happen!” The bar later updated the post later to say the issue was resolved and it was all an honest mistake.
