As the 28 Grand building in Capitol Park gets closer to completion, new details about the restaurant slated for the ground floor space are also being finalized. Restaurateur Eli Boyer confirmed to Eater via email this week that the forthcoming project will be an as-of-yet-unnamed burger restaurant. While Boyer declined to reveal any specifics, but says that the project “is moving full-steam ahead.”

Details of the project’s layout were shared by Ferndale-based firm Five/Eighths architecture late last week. Five/Eighths was also the general contractor for Boyer’s seafood restaurant Voyager in Ferndale.

Boyer has experience with burger restaurants from his time at DMK Restaurants in Chicago and after leaving Gold Cash Gold in 2015 expressed interest in bringing more single-item casual restaurants to Detroit. "When we put that burger on the menu it became our top selling item,” he said of his experience at Gold Cash Gold. “I'd like to focus on something that's scalable. Something that is not a one-location type of place.”

Boyer had previously planned to open the 28 Grand eatery with Stockyard’s Marc Bogoff but the pair parted ways earlier this year. More details of the project are expected to be revealed soon.

Meanwhile, Capitol Park is continuing to gain new restaurants and retail. Forthcoming modern steakhouse Prime + Proper is expected to debut soon alongside soon-to-open grocery-bar project Eatori Market.
