Atwater Brewery’s Detroit Tap House is poised to unveil a new rooftop biergarten in the Rivertown Warehouse District this month. The craft brewery confirms to Eater that the new al fresco patio venue will be located above the company’s brew house at 237 Joseph Campau with views of the waterfront. Fans can check out the new biergarten space beginning May 18.
The Atwater biergarten features 40 seats at communal tables with an additional 25 seats along the rooftop bar and railings, according to a rep for the brewery. Atwater’s Dirty Blonde Ale and Whango Mango Wheat will feature prominently on the beer menu alongside other rotating house brews, wines, and spirits.

This is the latest expansion of the Detroit brewery. Atwater took over a neighboring club space in 2015 and relaunched it as Atwater Detroit Tap House. The company launched its Grand Rapids brewpub and biergarten last fall and is planning further expansions to Chicago and Boston in the near future.
Atwater’s rooftop biergarten will open at 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday and at 11 a.m. Friday through Sunday; the patio will host happy hour daily from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. with bar snacks and $1-off draft beer deals.
