After several months of delayed anticipation, Cake Ambition, is set to open its doors on May 2. Cake designerJessica Bouren is has made some major progress over the past several months building out her storefront.

The paper is finally down at the shop located at 4154 3rd Ave. revealing a nearly-completed interior with retro details and a bright palette of blues, yellows, greens. Shelves with glass containers waiting to be filled with candy, cakes, and other treats line the shelves behind a wood countertop.

Bouren is known for her creatively designed cakes ranging from stunning, multi-tiered wedding cakes to one made in the likeness of the Forest Arms. The shop will continue to focus on these custom cakes while also offering a cafe experience with coffee, tea, housemade desserts, and old-fashioned candy.

Cake Ambition is part of a growing lineup of new businesses opening on Third Street in Cass Corridor. Its neighbors include Blossoms flower shop and a forthcoming bar. Down the block, Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken opened its doors last summer.
