Fans of Pulp Fiction will likely feel at home at a new burger and shake spot heading to Cass Corridor. An eagle-eyed tipster recently alerted Eater to the new restaurant headed to the corner of Cass Avenue and Willis Street. Dubbed Royale With Cheese, the eatery is slated to fill a vacancy at 4163 Cass Avenue.

Not much information is available about Royale at this point, though Eater has reached out for more information. On Instagram, Royal With Cheese is described as “a unique and retro style burger joint.” The name appears to be a call back to a rather famous scene about burgers from Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 film in which Vincent Vega (played by John Travolta) describes his experience ordering a Quarter Pounder with cheese in Paris, France, to Jules Winnfield (played by Samuel L. Jackson).

The eatery is located in the heart of Midtown across the street from Treat Dreams and La Feria and around the corner from Slows To Go and Avalon International Breads. Views through the window show the restaurant is already in the midst of a buildout. Stay tuned for updates.

Update, 2/1, 11:07 a.m.: Reach by Eater, chef/owner Hass Bazzy (formerly Grosse Ile Country Club) and pharmacist partner Moe Ettaher say the opening of Royale With Cheese is a childhood dream finally coming to fruition. The pair, who met as kids in the mid-1990s, first bonded while watching Pulp Fiction. “I told Moe, ‘One day we’re going to open a restaurant and we’re going to call it Royale With Cheese,’” Bazzy says.

The 2,000-square-foot space will seat around 60 patrons, with additional outdoor patio seating. Currently under renovations, the restaurant will feature exposed brick, an open kitchen in the style of Five Guys, and a fast-casual, counter service format.

Diners can expect a selection of signature burgers such as the Royale made with house-smoked brisket, Southwest corn relish, caramelized onions, avocado, smoked gouda, creamy coleslaw, and “Royale sauce” (a creamy “fondue”-like cheese). Bazzy is also planning to offer a selection of “bites” such as nacho cheese ravioli and fried macaroni and cheese.

If all goes as planned with the city, pair are anticipated a March debut for Royale With Cheese.

Tipping is essential. Have some juicy restaurant intel? Send it to the tipline and Eater will check it out.
