Inside Go! Sy Thai’s Second Detroit Outpost

The pad thai slinger debuts on Friday in Capitol Park

Fast-casual Southeast Asian eatery Go! Sy Thai’s second Detroit outpost throws open its doors on the ground floor of The Albert building today at 11 a.m. in Capitol Park. The restaurant hosted several soft openings this week ahead of its public debut.

The small, 29-seat restaurant will cater mainly to the takeout crowd though Patrick Thompson Design helped develop and inviting and colorful interior for the location. Seating takes advantage of the limited space with window-facing counters, a few white two-tops matched with red chairs, and several longer wood communal tables near the checkout counter. Paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling and posters on the somewhat raw and distressed walls are meant to mimic the look and feel of the streets of Bangkok.

Diners can expect all the traditional menu items found at Go! Sy Thai’s other Detroit and metro Detroit restaurants including many vegetarian and gluten-free options. Photographers Chris and Michelle Gerard visited the restaurant this week ahead of the official launch. Scope out the interior in the gallery below.

Go! Sy Thai is located in the Albert Building at 1214 Griswold. The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays.
