Now that Michigan Senate has approved a bill allowing four-legged friends on restaurant patios, only the House of Representatives stands in the way of you sharing a plate of meatballs with your pup Lady-and-the-Tramp style. As the bill stands, local governments and business owners can decide to opt out if they want.

MLive spoke with Sen. Margaret O'Brien about the difficulty of traveling with pets, “And it was getting frustrating because [constituents] didn't want to eat at McDonald's, they didn't want to do takeout and eat in the hotel, they wanted to be able to go outside, enjoy the beauty and have their pet there.”

What do you think? Would you want to bring your pup with you to an alfresco lunch or dinner? Let us know in the comments if you’re concerned about this latest bill.
