CONTROVERSIES — An Ypsilanti-based designer is accusing Ann Arbor’s Glasshouse Brewing of failing to pay her for creating the company’s logo, which is featured on the building, growlers, shirts, and other items. The brewery’s website is now being held hostage with a landing page message reading: “This site is unavailable until this company pays their designer the agreed fee.” The brewery owner says the artist was doing work that wasn’t requested and previously hijacked the company’s Facebook page. As usual, negative online reviews are flooding in and Glasshouse is consulting a lawyer. [Deadline Detroit]

CHEF SHUFFLES — Emmele Herrold, formerly chef at One-Eyed Betty’s and Pop’s has left the Kramer Restaurant Group. The chef tells Eater in an email, “It was a hard decision for me, but I am super excited to be starting my own thing.” Herrold and her friend Meghan Shaw will be launching a permanent lunch and dinner pop-up — The Black Eagle — at The Bosco in Ferndale on September 12 featuring hot sandwiches, loaded fries, and a full bar. DEVELOPMENTS — Capitol Park’s Farwell Building is undergoing renovations which include ground floor space for one and maybe two restaurants. The building is expected to be completed in fall 2017. [DBiz]

AWARDS SEASON — Looking for an excellent burger spot? Saturday’s Detroit Burger Brawl at Eastern Market elicited some top contenders for excellent beef and buns. Dearborn’s Taystee’s Burgers earned the title of Detroit’s Best Burger with its Ali’s Notch-Yo-Burger, that features a laundry list of toppings including halal meat, lettuce, tomato, mayo, grilled onions, hot sauce, nacho cheese, jalapeno, american, swiss, and pepper jack cheese, and Nacho Cheese Doritos on an onion bun. Townhouse Detroit and Brome Burgers & Shakes also received high marks. [Freep]
