FOOD MEDIA — In what’s become an almost weekly occurrence for national publications, Newsweek has published a really poorly edited guide of what to do in Detroit. While it claims to be written by a “native,” the restaurant section manages to imply that Buddy’s (where the square was invented) is the “generic version” of Detroit-style pizza — a statement that even “the best-square shaped, thick crusted pie” Loui’s Pizza would refute. WTF? [Newsweek]
MENU PORN — Woodbridge’s Pie-Sci pizzeria founder Jeremy Damaske will combine forces with his mentor, chef Anthony Lopicollo, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday. For one night only feast on two specialty pie offerings: The Gordon Bombay (smoked duck ham, 18-month white cheddar fondue, pickled onion, and arugula) and The Pork Fiction (smoked pork belly, citrus marinated kale, caramelized onion, fresh mozzarella, and chili oil).
