EXPANSIONS — Casino sports hub TAP at MGM Grand Detroit is launching a new entertainment space dubbed The Backroom. The area features giant Jenga, shuffleboard, and darts. Customers can still order off the standard TAP menu, but Backroom will also offer a special late-night menu featuring fried green beans, Reuben egg rolls, mussels, and calamari. [EaterWire]

NEWS — Controversial Kroger cake-punter Tricia Kortes is pleading no-contest to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. The Bloomfield Hills mother made headlines earlier this summer for allegedly throwing a fit and “drop kicking” a birthday cake because she wasn’t satisfied with the decorations. [Freep]

WEEK IN REVIEWS — Critic Serena Maria Daniels treks out to Troy’s luxe Italian eatery Tre Monti to sample the revamped cuisine under new chef wunderkind Benedetto Palazzolo. “Our prix fixe meal came with a filleto di cervo (venison tenderloin). Glazed with chili and cooked medium rare, the filet almost melted in our mouths,” she writes. “Paired with charred, white asparagus, shiitake mushrooms, and crunchy polenta, the dish divinely added a hearty sequence to our experience.” [Metro Times]

CH-CH-CHANGES — Hamtramck’s finest chocolatiers Bon Bon Bon are back with a fresh batch of seasonal flavors. The collection is comprised of rifs on summer treats and traditional street food like elote (Mexican-style corn), banana-toffee pie, and blueberry crumble. [EaterWire]
