Molly Abraham tests out Atomic Chicken in Clawson: Atomic chicken has "come up with a winner, with a chef-driven menu that is focused completely on the popular bird and appropriate accompaniments," the critic writes. "The mac and cheese, made with orecchiette pasta and a mix of gorgonzola and white cheddar, is a hit. The pasta — in the shape of little ears — forms pockets for the cheeses, and the blue cheese gives the dish an extra jolt of flavor." Abraham reports that new menu tweaks have eliminated the exotic flavored dishes including the Japanese fried chicken, black-eyed peas, and sweet potatoes, in favor of bourbon baked beans, potato salad, and slaw. Two and a half stars. [Detroit News]

Serena Maria Daniels revisits Dr. Sushi’s pop-up: Dr. Sushi’s "Sister Ray roll gives off a slightly fiery and citrusy kick with use of jalapeno, lime, and kewpie mayo to complement the fried swai fish" and "the negi shiro maguro (white tuna and green onion) is simple and pleasantly fresh." The critic notes that the stand-out dish was the ikuradon served in a bowl with rice "topped with a bountiful layer of Chinook salmon roe from Lake Huron, raw quail egg, a peppery shiso herb, thinly shredded nori (seaweed), sea urchin, and an edible flower garnishment."
