VITAL UPDATES — Mudgie’s Deli may have hit peak lobster roll insanity this year. The Corktown sandwich shop started breaking down lobster roll service into "shifts" on Thursday to help meet demand and give staff a break from the constant onslaught of crustacean-starved customers. The deli estimates it’s turning out about 80 rolls per hour. On Friday, the restaurant announced it would have resources to supply about 909 of the coveted rolls, split between two shifts — 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to close with a lobster-free happy hour in between. Mudgie’s is updating its social media regularly with sell-out details. Follow them on Facebook and Twitter. [Facebook]
APPS — Alocito, a new restaurant app, will launch in late-August in metro Detroit. The iOS compatible on-demand dining app allows users with tight schedules to reserve a table at a local restaurant and order a meal ahead of their visit. Both the diner and the restaurant are charged $1 per order. Founder Phil LaColla tells Eater the company has one confirmed restaurant partner in Cornerstone Barrel House and is in conversations with many other restaurants in the downtown area. [EaterWire]
OUT OF TOWN — Apparently hometown pickle (and other prepared foods) maker McClure’s is making an appearance on burgers in Melbourne. [Broadsheet via MT]
