Major changes are afoot for two downtown Ferndale restaurant newcomers, Pop’s for Italian and the Daily Dinette. Metro Times first-reports that the owner, Kramer Restaurant Group, is currently making big alterations to both concepts including reducing the Daily Dinette’s footprint to accomodate more space for guests, a private dining room, and an expanded kitchen prep area at Pop’s. Birmingham-based design firm Ron & Roman, which executed the original buildout last winter, is completing the renovations.

Heralded early on by ourselves and others as a 24-hour diner and the area’s only ultra late-night option, the Dinette is also sadly reducing its hours. The cider doughnut and cheeseburger slinger will still be open relatively late on weekends but is slashing its hours on weekdays. Dinette now opens from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 3 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
